Facility - Reptile Room Construction

Welcome to Gecko Babie's Gecko Room. We have recently started renovating our 300 square foot facility with all new insulation, lighting, flooring, plumbing and dedicated circuits. For lighting we installed four recessed lights and a four bulb ceiling fan each on it's own switch. The floor is all ceramic tile complete with baseboard and molding. We installed a commercial grade two compartment NFS stainless steel sink with a pre rinse faucet and two drainboards. We use an oil filled radiant heater controlled by a Johnsons thermostat with night drop for ambient room temps. In addition each rack has it's own Flexwatt heat source controlled by Helix DBS 1000 systems.

Our grow out and adult geckos are housed individually in ARS 3033 Rack systems. Our hatching and for sale geckos are house individually in Boaphile Plastics RhinoRaXX Systems. Below are some progress photos of our facility build and how we maintain our setups.

Facility Adult Breeders - Leopard Geckos & Fat Tail Geckos

Our adult Leopard Geckos and Fat Tail Geckos are housed individually in ARS-3033 rack systems. The tubs measure 21.5" x 15.5" x 5". Each rack system is controlled by two Helix DBS 1000 systems to ensure each level of the rack is at a precise temperature. During our breeding months we maintain our racks with a constant 90 degree hot spot and a daytime cool zone of 78 and nighttime zone of 76. Each cage is setup with fresh newspaper and a warm zone humidity/egg laying box filled with moist sphagnum moss. We use 3" gloss ceramic bowls filled with calcium and mealies 24/7 and once a week we switch out the calcium for vitamins. Water is provided by a shallow 3.25"oz disposable plastic cup that we discard during cleaning. The neon plastic lizards you see on a couple of the totes are just one way we distinguish which tub contains the probe.

Facility Hatchlings - Leopard Geckos & Fat Tail Geckos

Our hatchling Leopard Geckos and Fat Tail Geckos are housed individually in a custom built hatchling rack using Boaphile Plastics RhinoRaXX Systems. Hatchlings are housed in Sterilite 6qt containers and the system is controlled by three Helix DBS 1000 systems each controlling one horizontal layer of the rack. Hatchlings are housed on paper towels and have a warm zone humidity box filled with damp paper towels. We use 3" gloss ceramic bowls filled with calcium and mealworms 24/7 and once a week we switch out the calcium for vitamins. Water is provided by a shallow 1.5" oz disposable plastic cup that we discard during cleaning. For the first few days after hatching we keep baby geckos on moist warm paper towels to aid with hydration and their first shed cycle. During this time they have access to a dry hide box.. the exact opposite of how we normally do it.

Facility - Incubator

We use an Animal Plastics Professional Grade incubator to incubate our Leopard Gecko & Fat Tail Gecko eggs. It measures 72" x 24" x 24" and is heated with two rows of Flexwatt and a circulating fan. We had ours special ordered in black to match the rest of our racks. It is controlled by a Helix DBS 100 Thermostat. We use Ziploc® Brand Containers with the Smart Snap™ Seal for our egg boxes. They are 76 FL OZ and 7" L x 11" W x 3" H and are very easy to clean, completely transparent and high enough to fit a couple of inches of Perlite with plenty of space leftover for the eggs.
